Alliance Healthcare adopts IBM Cloud to innovate its infrastructure

Farminveste launched a public tender in order to find an innovative solution for the infrastructure of its subsidiary Alliance Healthcare, leader in the Portuguese pharmaceutical distribution market.

Softinsa stood out from the remaining competitors, being the partner chosen to implement a support solution for the SAP platform, based on IBM Cloud, which included installation, configuration, support, corrective, preventive and evolutionary maintenance and backup services/restore services.

The IBM Cloud allowed Alliance Healthcare to take advantage of a swifter and scalable platform and to respond efficiently to its business needs. Another great benefit for the company was the fact that this project gave it a redundant system that guarantees the high availability of the service.

Nuno Jesus, Digital Transformation Director at Alliance Healthcare Portugal, explains, that ‘in a clearly assumed strategy of transition from our core systems to the Cloud, we looked for a partner that would ensure the supply, installation, configuration and maintenance of the future infrastructure under the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) regime, to support the SAP S/4 HANA transformation and implementation project that we are currently executing’.

The Digital Transformation Director added that ‘being an absolutely mission critical system for Alliance Healthcare’s operation and business this infrastructure had to be both vertically and horizontally scalable, presenting guarantees of excellent performance, but also of high performance. availability and fault tolerance, with the implementation of a disaster recovery desktop and very aggressive recovery times (RTO and RPO)’.

‘Assessing the several criteria of the proposals that were presented, we ended up selecting IBM/Softinsa as our partner, not only for complying with our vast requirements, but also for its market implementation experience, the comprehensiveness of its services and the technical quality of the solution that was offered.’

‘It was also the partner that presented us, in a more consistent way, a single supplier for a global solution, including the interconnection of the integrated network, SAP administration services and levels of availability at the platform level and not just the infrastructure level. Currently, we have already expanded the infrastructure to support our entire data virtualisation solution, continuing our strategy of adopting the Cloud and reinforcing the partnership between the two companies’, Nuno Jesus concluded.
