Meet MAS 9, the latest version do IBM Maximo Application Suite

What are the news of do MAS 9, the latest version of do IBM Maximo Application Suite?
To answer this question, we interviewed Pedro Leite, Supply Chain Operation Manager of Softinsa, who addressed the new features of this integrated solution that allows maximizing the value of assets and managing their lifecycle.
What is the Maximo Application Suite (MAS)?
The IBM Maximo Application Suite is an integrated solution for Asset Management that allows implementing best practices in asset management, from acquisition to disposal, applying reliability concepts, leveraging generative AI, advanced analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
This new version of the Asset Management system is composed of a set of components, including mobility, which enables online and offline use, allowing users to access all information for their work even in offline mode, and artificial intelligence capabilities, which help users answer questions about their work by reading databases of documentation and intervention information on the same equipment with similar work types.
In addition to connecting to equipment for reading measurement points, counters, and IoT sensors, another novelty is the 360-degree view of equipment to optimize availability, maintenance, and replacement.
MAS 9, through artificial intelligence (AI), also allows predicting and managing asset reliability risks to plan and prioritize maintenance needs.
What are the news of version MAS 9 in terms of licensing?
With this new version, all platform features are available for company users to experience and use, i.e., it is no longer restricted to certain sectors and a limited number of licenses per user. It offers a more comprehensive and flexible use, according to an App Points concept.
What makes MAS a differentiating solution?
MAS is not just an evolution of the Maximo system, a solution that has existed for over 50 years, which has a high degree of reliability and maturity. I highlight the following:
- It has global implementations in various sectors of activity, benefiting from concrete requirements identified by different clients/implementations;
- It is an IBM product, being a guarantee of quality and technological evolution;
- The different components of the product respond to all levels of maintenance maturity, providing features that help with management, planning, and programming, and execution.
How can MAS help companies improve their asset management?
The bet on Maximo Application Suite is now a journey of numerous potentialities for companies, which means that the use of the various components is related to the real needs and the degree of maturity in their asset management.
The system offers four levels of maturity in a sequential manner, responding to the requirements of the phase where companies are, with the first corresponding to companies that are starting to use an asset management system and the last including predictive maintenance.
What is Softinsa’s experience in implementing MAS?
Softinsa has a team of consultants with over 20 years of experience implementing the Maximo system, covering all sectors of activity, with great relevance in the public, industry, energy, and transportation sectors. In addition to Portugal, many of these projects have been implemented in other geographies, including Spain, Greece, France, the UK, Israel, Tunisia, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, India, and Macau.
